1. Anything special to pack?
Yes! Kodaikanal gets cold in January, especially at night when temperatures can dip close to freezing.
- Pack layers: sweaters, and a warm jacket
- Bring sunscreen – the sun is strong during the day
- Carry a hat and sunglasses for daytime outings
- Umbrella or rain jacket: unlikely to rain, but always good to have
- Don't forget comfortable shoes, moisturizer, and any personal medications
2. How’s the internet in Kodaikanal?
Surprisingly good!
- Airtel, Jio, and BSNL offer solid speeds
- Most hotels have reliable Wi-Fi
- Kodaikanal Club includes a business center and printer for any work needs
3. What about medical facilities?
Kodaikanal has a decent hospital and plenty of pharmacies nearby.
However, do bring any special medications or ongoing treatments with you.
4. What’s local transport like?
- Taxis and auto-rickshaws are easy to find and reasonably priced
- You can also rent bicycles or scooters for local exploring
- You can even rent a horse if you wish!

Absolutely. Kodaikanal is a very safe hill station, even for solo walks.
You can comfortably stroll around the lake—even at night—without concern. Just bring a flashlight or phone torch for extra visibility after dark.
